We’ve been experimenting with different ways to insert zips. The main photo (the gorgeous fabric is ruby star shining by Melody Miller) shows a zipped pouch using a technique Sarah found on a tutorial by Melly Sews. It’s quicker than the usual method and this tutorial features a video plus a description so it’s easy to follow. Our tip: make sure the lining and outer seams are completely lined up when sewing them together – otherwise the zip won’t lie straight.
Our favourite local sewing place, Sew Over It (the blue and yellow wash bag, bottom right photo, was made at one of their workshops!) also has plenty of zipper tips on its blog.
Of course, if making it yourself isn’t your bag, look out for the Turtle & Teal accessories range which will be on sale soon!
