Pop along to Pop Brixton Christmas market

We had great fun at the Green & Ethical Christmas fair on Saturday – thanks to everyone who visited us. It was a busy day and we sold out of our gorgeous scented candles – sorry to those of you who missed out.  We hope to have some more in for our next event – the Christmas market at Pop Brixton on Saturday 17 December, 11am-6pm.

At the Green & Ethical fair we launched our new, organic range in lovely new ‘Scandi’ fabrics and will be selling these products at Pop Brixton along with our regular range of totes, zipper bags, gift and shoe bags and scented Christmas decorations – all in gorgeous materials of course! We will also be selling the lovely Sabai soaps – organic, scented soaps from Thailand made from natural products, and – we hope! – more scented candles.

Green & Ethical Fair – our next event!

The Green & Ethical Fair is part of the Christmas calendar in Clapham and we’re delighted to be appearing there this year. It’s on Saturday 3 December 11am-4pm and will be packed with stalls – jewellery, books, crafts, artisan food, raffle prizes and more.

We will be selling a new range of bags, lavender sachets, Christmas decorations and accessories made from gorgeous organic and recycled fabrics and materials. Each handmade item is one of a kind and kind to the environment. We also have a new range of beautiful natural soaps from Sabai soaps and some gorgeous scented soy turtle-and-teal-organiccandles – cinnamon/orange and vanilla/rose – made using only natural ingredients.

The fair is a lovely family event with the chance to meet Father Christmas and a visit from some of the animals from Vauxhall City Farm! It’s held within the magnificent setting of the 18th-century Holy Trinity church overlooking Clapham Common Northside.

We hope to see you on Saturday!

Thanks for dropping by!

abbeville-christmas-fair-2016-fiona-and-sarahThanks to everyone who visited our stall at the Abbeville Christmas Craft Fair in Clapham yesterday.  We had a great time and stocked up on a few Christmas presents ourselves from some of the lovely stalls that were there. We’ve introduced some natural soaps from Thailand in beautiful packaging – Sabai Soaps – and some gorgeous handmade, scented candles too.

Sabai Soaps

sabai-soaps-introductory-packageWe are delighted to be selling Sabai Soaps at our Christmas markets and fairs this year. Apart from looking and smelling gorgeous, Sabai soaps are 100% organic  and all packaging is biodegradable. The soaps are handmade at a small family business in Thailand using only natural ingredients. In addition, 20% of profits go to charities who do fantastic work in and around Thailand.

To complement the Sabai range, we will be selling pretty drawstring bags which make a perfect gift with a bar or two of soap!

Turtle & Teal will be a a number of local Christmas shopping evenings, the Clapham Green & Ethical fair, Pop Brixton Christmas market and other venues. Full details soon!

Sneak peek

turtle-and-teal-organicHere’s a sneak peek at some of the pieces we are busy making for our new green and ethical range. Everything in this range is made using organic fabrics and threads and all trimmings are either organic or recycled. These fabrics can be found at the lovely online fabric shop Elephant in my Handbag.

Look out for an organic range of soaps which we will also be selling at our Christmas fairs. More details to follow soon!

Turtle & Teal goes organic

We are very excited to be launching a new ethical and organic range of bags and accessories. All products will be handmade by us using organic and/or recycled materials. Each product from the range will be ‘one of a kind’ and kind to the environment. We’ll be selling them at the Green & Ethical Fayre in Clapham on 3rd December 2016 and at other venues to be announced soon! Here are some of the organic fabrics we are using from Elephant in my Handbag, organic ribbons from The Sewing Retreat and organic threads and lavender (from Greenfibres.) Do get in touch if you would like more details.

Fun at the Vintage & Makers Market

Thanks to everyone who came along to the Vintage & Makers market at Pop Brixton, organised by the lovely Make do & Mend.  We had a great day, despite some late afternoon rain, and met some lovely people.

As always, our tote bags were popular as were our mini drawstring bags and our shoe bags. Don’t forget that we personally make everything – that’s Fiona, Claire and Sarah – and no two items are exIMG_0666actly the same. So, when you buy from us, you’re buying a one-off, original item lovingly handmade by us!

We will be selling online soon – if you have any special requests, do let us know. We will also be starting up a monthly newsletter too so that you can find out which markets we will be selling at and also receive details of new Turtle & Teal products and designs.

Watch this space!

Vintage Market at Pop Brixton

make do and mend posterWe are very excited about the next event for Turtle & Teal. We’re heading down to Pop Brixton to take a stall at the Make do and Mend Vintage & Makers Market on Saturday 3 September, 11am-6pm.  As well as our popular bags, cushions and accessories – all handmade by us in gorgeous fabrics – we will also be selling a limited collection of framed vintage coasters.

Pop Brixton make do and mend ukThey make great, inexpensive gifts and many of them are one-offs – when they’re gone they’re gone! We are keeping our fingers crossed that the sunshine stays but even if we’re back to usual English weather we will be under cover – so there’s no excuse not to pop along!

We love animal fabric bags!

We’ve had lots of requests for animal themed tote bags so we are busy making more for the autumn.  Here’s a reminder of some of our more popular totes – the dog fabric tote is the only one left!  If you would like us to make a tote similar to these or one featuring another animal of your choice (we can source the fabric for you), just get in touch. Prices range from £10-£15 depending on the size of bag and the material. We can also make smaller totes for younger children with matching tiny totes for teddy.

Thanks for your support

Thank you to everyone who came along to the Abbeville Fete last month in Clapham. We had a great day and the weather held until there was a ferocious hailstorm at 4pm which lasted at least 10 minutes! We had to keep reminding ourselves it was June and not January.

As always, our drawstring bags in gorgeous fabrics were very popular as well as our range of tote bags featuring animal designs. We’ve only got a dog-themed tote left so we’ll be busy making more over the next few weeks.  If you have any requests for products, do get in touch.
